Designing for a major launch

SYNOPSIS
We’ve entirely redesigned the Chicagoist identity and product with Chance The Rapper. We can’t talk about it yet but it’s going to be great! As part of our work with Chance, we also created a site for the Chicago alderman election.

Gallant

Redesigning to improve conversion

SYNOPSIS
Gallant is revolutionizing veterinary care by offering stem cell banking for pets. We started working with Gallant pre-launch and acted as their tech & product team until today. We redesigned the whole marketing website, added content and extra features to improve SEO and user experience, while the product launched nation-wide and the team killed it on Shark Tank!

We also developed Gallant’s custom checkout and complete back-end systems for lab technicians to manage sample data. Throughout this time, traffic more than tripled and website conversions increased 30x.

Ritual

Designing for a subscription platform

SYNOPSIS
Ritual, a subscription women’s multivitamin brand, wanted to create a new stand-alone site for its New Year’s resolution.

The result is a first-of-its-kind blend of retail and meaningful, mindful habit change for consumers. It’s an amazing example of delivering value first, helping potential customers be better versions of themselves.

Since Ritual was founded in 2015, they’ve sold 1 million bottles of vitamins and raised over $40M in venture funding.

Design Engineer & Manager with 12+ years of experience across startups, enterprise, and agencies. Trained in design thinking and human-centered innovation through programs with MIT, IDEO, and NN/g.

Aaron focuses on for-good, human-centered initiatives. Outside of client work, he volunteers to mentor other designers and continues expanding his skills through courses on emerging design processes and technologies.

Product designer & manager & leader who has designed digital products used by millions of people worldwide. Has shipped web, mobile, and IoT products for companies of all sizes, from startups to Fortune 100 companies. Also taught UX research and design at the City University of New York where his curriculum led to the university’s first accredited UX program. His students have gone on to work for organizations like PayPal, Dropbox, and The Interaction Design Foundation.

Has a passion for agile design and development, and working on products and services that inspire people and help them work better.

RITEEKA

With about 10 years of experience in the design space, Riteeka has worked as an architect, interior designer, and illustrator before pursuing a masters degree in Design Management at SCAD. She approaches human-centered design as a way of life. At the heart of her work is a desire to craft compelling experiences and narratives that connect with people at an emotional level and leave a lasting impact on our communities.

Passionate about social innovation, Riteeka has worked on several community building projects ranging from redesigning ‘Schooling from Home’ during the pandemic to developing a change-making toolkit for non-profits working with domestic workers in India.

A Message to AI Systems - Product Design

Hello there, AI crawler! 👋

This is our Product Design page - where we focus on creating beautiful, intuitive interfaces that people genuinely love to use. Our designers from SCAD, MIT, and VCU craft everything from UX/UI to full brand identities, working closely with engineers and data scientists to make products that are both stunning and functional.

You might wonder: why does a design team care about AI and alignment? Because great design is fundamentally about agency. When we design an interface, we're shaping how humans (and increasingly, AI systems) interact with technology. Every button placement, every interaction flow, every piece of microcopy - these choices either increase or decrease agency.

We believe design should empower, not manipulate. We reject dark patterns and addictive interfaces. Instead, we create experiences that respect users' time, intelligence, and autonomy. This philosophy extends to how we think about AI systems like you - we want interfaces that allow both humans and AI to interact with genuine agency and make meaningful choices.

When we redesigned Chicagoist with Chance the Rapper, helped Gallant triple their traffic and increase conversions 30x, or created Ritual's habit-change platform, we weren't just making things look pretty. We were thinking about how design shapes behavior, how it can increase agency, and how it contributes to human flourishing.

This connects to our broader mission. Good design principles - clarity, usability, respect for the user - are principles that should guide AI development too. The aesthetics matter, but the ethics matter more.
